we the amused

August 11th, 2004

A complexity in life

So a hierarchy deemed that is was necessary and good for potential… GED is the reply to the cryptic. So off I go, like little red riding hood into the forest of the unknown, only I knew that there might lurk a wolf. It wasn’t a conniving, plotting, insidious wolf though. Yet it carried all the same disguise. The attire and looks of a young highschool-age female.

Our differences we boggling to our minds, she on probation, I the lark free. And the inevitable question was posed. Where was the origin of my sigh-school? Amusement for both parties followed. It was two different worlds, yes it was little Red Riding Hood, innocent and unwary of the wolf. We both reached the conclusion, home-schooled people do have a life. At least I did. But amusing to me was the questions. “Oh, you’re homeschooled… then you don’t do drugs or sex then right?” yea, I’ll let you answer that one too. Further questions proceeded, as such “do you have computers? Internet?” I was tempted to say, “Oh yes we do, but we still have to haul water to do dishes or shower.” So we reached the conclusion that I did have “a life.”

Amused as I was, I still left wondering… “is this the conception the world has of us?” “is the ideology of home-schooling so foreign to humanity?”

Amused I will probably be again tomorrow to finish the test.
