I hearby declare
December 21st, 2007It is time to start posting here again.
Actually my not posting has nothing to do with anything except forgetting, but that's a lousy excuse. Maybe I'll come up with another one later.
I would like to know everyone else's excuses, apart from Valerie and Kalen. I would also like to know if my brother still reads this blog because he sure as heck doesn't sign onto chat (not when I'm on anyway)
I've been good though. Busy, but good. I've been reading a lot of murder mysteries in my break. I feel justified, since I worked hard and dedicatedly all term. (2 A-'s, 2 A's, one B+) Next term I have 18 credits, 16 of which are science: Quantitative Chemistry, Symbiosis and the Environment, Evolution, Plant Physiology, plus voice and rock climbing (just to keep it interesting). Sounds fun, truly, and I have a couple terms left before graduation.
That's all for now. Happy Christmas everybody.
Because Kalen likes such stories
April 21st, 2007As one of the sparky leaders told the group of noisy kindergarteners when we were playing games, they needed to be careful with me because I "got into a fight with a horse and lost."
And now, the rest of the story. (Bonus points if you can ID a man who is famous for that phrase)
I was riding Sunday afternoon and the horse I was riding did his best to get me off his back- and he won. Mind you, this was almost entirely my fault, but it happened that my horse had bolted, downhill, and then threw his head down (making a slide that he no doubt intended for me to take). I knew at that point I was coming off, but I tried to fight it so that it wouldn't hurt too much. All I could think about was not going over the head, because I knew I had a better chance off to the side.
I should have let myself fall off sooner, but I saw an injury everywhere I looked. So when I did come off, I flew off an an angle and landed a good 6 feet away from the horse, who then continued running, showing no concern for my health. I lay on the ground for a bit, scared that I was dead or something. I had landed on my side, bruising my hip and my elbow, and also had the wind knocked out of me. For a few moments I thought I was badly injured, but after a bit, and with my family's help, I was able stand up. I was wearing a helmet, so that my head which crashed on the ground was unaffected (but I need a new helmet now). I discovered I could move everything, so I got up and went inside where I laid on the couch. I more or less remained there rest of the day.
Most of the week has been a week full of pain and woe for me. Everything has hurt, my neck, my back, my hip, my elbow and my ribs. Monday I hobbled around campus, feeling like an old lady who can't afford arthritis medication.
At this point, I'm feel much better - only my hip hurts if I'm not careful, and my elbow aches a bit.
But even when it all hurt, I didn't even feel like I could sincerely complain (though granted, I did more than my share of whining), because I walked away and didn't even need an ambulance ride which had seemed imminent. I apparently was just banged up and shaken. I'll call that a miracle, if you don't mind.
my idea of a good study session
March 15th, 2007...lying on my back, in the sun, under a tree, with my laptop on my belly and my head on my bag, reading online notes from biochemistry. (Especially when the notes are all about the immune system!)
But now the sun is setting, the breeze is blowing and I'm cold. I must retreat to the library or better yet: starbucks.
*pokes*
February 17th, 2007So. Are we all dead?
It was inevitable
October 10th, 2006I no longer understand my professor during biochemistry. I lasted a long time, nearly a week and a half into classes.
Now, my professor and I shall become very well acquainted. Like I am with my physics professor.
In case you've been wondering at my absence, I've enrolled in a schedule full of insanity, and am therefore: busy.
I
August 8th, 2006am home from mexico. I have been gone all summer. I am tired. have you missed me?
today
June 8th, 2006is my 21st birthday.
To celebrate it, I am going to spanish class, biology lab, and a review session for my organic chemistry class.
(And four days ago was my big brother's 24th. Happy birthday!)
Guess what?
May 24th, 2006I'm going to mexico this summer! For like, 7 weeks!
And I have finals to do first!
